About us
Your hosts
Hello! We’re your hosts Barb and Greg, and we’re here to help you relax, reset and explore. Coming from busy careers, both of us came to the realisation that we need to slow down and make a change.
We’ve been in the fast lane before and we know how hard it can be to prioritise rest and relaxation. We’ve experienced first-hand the change that slowing down, relaxing and resetting can have on your life.
Barb has been a yoga teacher for over 10 years, and comes from a background as a hospitality teacher (P-12 and at university level). She was a teacher for 39 years and 11 months, leaving the profession one month before going insane.
Greg’s previous career was as a boilermaker, construction supervisor at mine sites for over 10 years. Qualifying as a remedial and sports masseuse in 2003, he is enjoying the return to massage work. He loves music and has played bass in a number of different bands over the years.
Together, our dedication and skills ensure your stay is a wonderful experience with the care and attention you deserve. We are happy to continue On Obi Maleny as a business that has served over 5000 visitors to the Maleny region since 2010.

We are just off the main street, tucked privately and in nature. It takes less than a minute to walk to the main street and then you have access to dozens of cafes, restaurants, food shopping, playgrounds, book shops, antiques, local arts and crafts – and a lot, lot more!

“Relax, retreat and treat yourself”
Relax, retreat and treat yourself. Tranquil Getaways really live up to their name. As you walk in to your cabin, you are greeted by lush green views from all the large windows, overlooking the Obi creek and trees. Yet you are completely private and can relax in the spa bath, gazing up at the treetops.
Barb and Greg have created a perfect retreat for couples or a solo visitor seeking peace, providing well equipped accommodation including delicious breakfast supplies and other extras on request such a the recommended (by me) cheese plate and wine, chocolates, flowers and other treats.
Barb runs a lovely yoga class some days, which would suit any agility level, and Greg offers massage (which I sadly didn’t have time for). It would be easy to not leave until check out time, but the township of Maleny is a very short walk away with its tempting shops and cafes. Montville is not far away, and Mary Cairncross park for some rainforest walking. Sadly, no platypus appeared in the creek, but otherwise this escape was perfect.
“Absolutely delightful”
I had an absolutely delightful stay at Barbara’s Airbnb! Barbara is a wonderful host, and I thoroughly enjoyed our warm and engaging conversations. She made the most perfect poached eggs for breakfast, which was such a treat!
The room itself was spotless, cozy, and well-appointed, with thoughtful touches like an ironing board and iron. The personal ensuite was immaculate and added to the comfort of the stay. For those travelling on your own you will feel completely safe and at home.
The property is a gem, overlooking the serene Obi Creek, providing a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. The tea and chocolates were a sweet and thoughtful touch that made the experience even more special.
I would be very interested in attending Barbara’s yoga retreats! I highly recommend staying here and will definitely return whenever I’m in the area! Thank you, Barbara, for such a lovely experience.

Blissful and relaxing… loved our stay. Greg and Barb are fantastic hosts that make the extra effort to personalise our stay. Great attention to details. It’s the little things. Very handy location. We enjoyed the scenic walks along the creek through the rain forest to get to the Maleny Music Festival and town. Relaxing in the tub and enjoying the tranquil sights and sounds of nature from the balcony – just perfect! We will come again. Thank you.
