Your hosts
Hello! We’re your hosts Barb and Greg, and we’re here to help you relax, reset and explore. Coming from busy careers, both of us came to the realisation that we need to slow down and make a change.
We’ve been in the fast lane before and we know how hard it can be to prioritise rest and relaxation. We’ve experienced first-hand the change that slowing down, relaxing and resetting can have on your life.
Barb has been a yoga teacher for over 7 years, and comes from a background as a hospitality teacher (P-12 and at university level). She was a teacher for 39 years and 11 months, leaving the profession one month before going insane. Greg is a qualified remedial and sports masseuse.
Together, our dedication and skills ensure your stay is a wonderful experience with the care and attention you deserve. We are happy to continue On Obi Maleny as a business that has served over 5000 visitors to the Maleny region since 2010.

Obi Holiday House accomodation Maleny
Obi House offers homestyle accommodation in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.
On arrival to this luxurious holiday house, you’ll be greeted with the delight of spaciousness and lightness created by the vaulted ceilings and high windows.
The home consists of two ensuited bedrooms with built-in robes. There is an option to create a third bedroom or break out space. This opens onto the third bathroom, with freestanding bath.
The kitchen is spacious with stone bench tops and high-end appliances including a two door fridge freezer with plumbed ice & water, a five burner gas and electric freestanding stove and dishwasher.
Obi House is where you will find us, Barb and Greg, when you join us in one of the Villas. We also welcome bookings of our guest room (subject to availability).
The laundry is avaliable on request for a small additional fee.

Deb B30. October, 2023.Lovely Rainforest Gem Beautiful place, and as the name says, a tranquil little hideaway. Although so close to the town, when you step inside the door, you have your own little piece of rainforest to enjoy. The balcony overlooking the creek is the perfect spot to enjoy some delicious wine and cheese as the sun sets and the inhabitants of the creek settle in for the night. It’s equally as lovely in the morning as you enjoy a cup of tea or coffee from the range of options provided. Step outside the door and you are a few minutes walk from two supermarkets, very well stocked with local produce, and a range of great restaurants. There are also some walking trails along the creek and around the town if you’re feeling a bit active. The cabins are situated very privately with lovely well maintained gardens that ensure you won’t know your neighbours are even there. You can tell they have been furnished with care and attention to detail, and they are well appointed. Lovely big comfy bed and a very good sized bathroom, topped off with a spa bath where you can lie back and enjoy the rainforest view through the large picture window at the end of the bath. Hard to leave that one! Everything inside and out was very clean and well maintained. Check in was super easy, with a quick personal visit from host Barb a bit later to ensure we had everything we needed. So pleased we found this place. It really is a little hidden gem. Perfect for a romantic get away!

You had to go through main bedroom to get to the toilet and bathroom, and the bathroom didn't have a door for privacy. But for 2 people it would have been excellent. Walking distance from main center of town. Cheese shop was just up the road. The surrounding was beautiful.

So lucky to be able to watch the platypus for about 20 minutes playing in the creek early one morning. So close to town but felt a million miles away when sitting out on the balcony. Always some wee creature to watch. A cosy unit with everything you may need, just grab a bottle of wine or two and some of the districts cheeses and you are set.

It was everything Greg and Barb, the owners said it is, and more! The king-size bed is very comfortable with plenty of pillows. The bathroom is bright and clean, and big spa bath is a bonus. The deck over the creek is sublime at sunrise and sunset. The fresh flowers are anice touch!

Christine W8. July, 2023.The kind of find you revisit! We loved it. Location was unexpectedly perfect, being walking distance to all of main strip Maleny. Accommodation was clean and modern and really thoughtfully appointed (kitchen has spices, lounge has kids toys, chess and magazines) and sitting out on the balcony overlooking the natural wildlife and creek was so relaxing, as was the warm fire and ducted aircon when it got chilly for us in the hills. Owners were easy to deal with, friendly and lovely making sure we had everything we needed and checkin was so simple. We will be back!

Perfect if you want a Maleny getaway/home base, with lovely green space behind the property. Communication and helpfulness were excellent from the property owner, who extended our checkout time on short notice as we had a new baby who needed to feed a little longer. There were flying foxes in the park behind and a helpful book to explain their habitat. garry palmer27. March, 2023.A good spot . Not far from the pub .A nice stand alone building . The smell and noise from a bat colony near the creek is a bit much if U want quiet . The beds mattress is well worn . I had to end for end it . So the second night's sleep was better . Also you can't take the key and lock the door and leave the aircon and power running because the key is pad locked onto the plastic pushing key for the power . So if 1 wants to go out and 1 wants to sleep in . You can't lock the door unless U shut off the power . More a 3 and a half than a four . The place was clean and safe.
