Stroll up Maple Street
Tranquil Getaways On Obi Maleny is located only a few minutes walk from Maleny townships. One of the first things we would recommend is a walk up Maple Street, taking in the variety of businesses that are thriving in town.
Bookshops
During the walk up Maple Street browse in one, or all three, of the bookshops in town.
Rosetta Books has a great selection of new releases, classics, children’s books and everything in between. As well as books there is a wide range of cards, stationery, games and puzzles. You can grab a coffee from their friendly barista to enjoy while you are looking for your next good read. In 2024 Rosetta’s was instrumental in organising the inaugural Sunshine Hinterland Writers Festival. The Festival is happening again in 2025 over the weekend of 3 – 5 May.

Across the road is the Maleny Bookshop which has been operating for over 35 years providing both new and second hand books. They specialise in Self Published and Indie authors and can help you find that rare or out of print book.

Art Studio

In Coral Street, which is just behind Maple Street, you will find the Joy Collective. A creative art space showcasing local artists. The art on display changes regularly displaying local crafts, handmade goods and original artworks. They offer great food made with local produce along with a range of hot and cold drinks. Open Monday – Saturday from 7am – 1pm. Come along for a coffee stay for the art.
Op Shops
If you enjoy hunting for retro treasures and clothing, or you are just keen to save some dollars then Maleny has three opportunity shops. All three are on Maple Street.
A visit to Bloomhill Opportunity shop directly supports Sunshine Coast locals who are dealing with cancer treatment. Bloomhill is a Sunshine Coast organization which provides a range of services to anyone requiring cancer treatment and their families. 80% of the money raised at the Bloomhill Opportunity Shops goes to providing services at their Wellness Centre in Buderim. So while hunting for treasures you know that you are helping Sunshine Coast locals.
The Lifeline Opportunity Shop funds go towards supporting the 24 hour crisis support line. They are located in the middle of town on Maple Street directly opposite Fig Street.

There are several shops catering for women’s fashion in the main street. Ginger Lilli boutique has a range of Australian and European brands. Boho Asylum has an ethical and sustainable focus selling items on consignment. It is a treasure trove of one off items to high end brands. The walking tour is along the Obi Obi Creek starting at the Maleny showgrounds. The 3 km tour takes 3 hours and is suitable for wheelchairs. Maximum number for each tour is 6 people.
